Chaplaincy is the work of pastoral ministry – caring for the entire St. Thomas More community.

STM’s Chaplaincy team is headed by Maciej Blok. He seek to lead the faith life of our school community. We celebrate four school-wide masses, at Thanksgiving, during Advent and Easter week, and to close the school year in May. We also hold masses on Wednesday mornings in our chapel before classes begin.

We invite priests from our local parishes to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.

All Grade 12 students attend a retreat during the school year. They will attend a retreat with their Religious Studies class. There is no charge for this retreat.

St. Thomas More students and staff actively pursue social justice by getting involved in initiatives such as the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board’s annual Pilgrimage, We Scare Hunger (formerly Halloween for Hunger), the STM Christmas Miracle, Thinkfast and numerous other good works. STM’s Utopia Club, inspired by St. Thomas More's views on an ideal society, explores themes of peace and justice through numerous awareness-raising and fundraising projects throughout the year which also emphasize community-building and fun.

The chapel is a place of sanctuary and prayer for all. Classes often celebrate the Eucharist there or have prayer services. Some classes experience guided meditations there. We lead orientation tours in the chapel for all Grade 9 Religion classes. It is a peaceful place to visit when you feel the need to take a step back from the hustle and bustle and be closer to God.

The most important element of our faith life is the members of our community: the students and staff at St. Thomas More who make this school a holy place by your acts of love.

We look forward to meeting you. Please take the time to drop by our offices in Room 118 and introduce yourself. We are available should you ever feel the need to talk.

Blessings on your school year!
